Whereas, the year 2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the founding of United for Diversity, formerly known as PeaceFest for the Fond du Lac Area, by volunteers from all walks of life dedicated to promoting the acceptance and respect of people of all cultures and backgrounds, and to educating and maintaining the pride of new generations and their heritage, and
Whereas, United for Diversity has actively promoted diversity through participation in such activities as Diversity Circles, We Welcome Diversity among local businesses, civic groups and other institutions, Martin Luther King Day, Juneteenth Day, Challenge Day at Fond du Lac High School, and other educational forums and events, and
Whereas, the acceptance of diversity remains a challenge across our country and in our community, and
Whereas, United for Diversity is sponsoring the 4th annual “CELEBRATE commUNITY” event on February 19th, at the Fond du Lac Recreation Center, as a day of cultural, ethnic, religious interaction and ethnic foods sampling to celebrate diversity. The celebration is open to the community at large.
Now, therefore, I, Richard D. Cudex, President of the Fond du Lac City Council, by my signature affixed, do hereby proclaim February 19, 2011 as “CELEBRATE commUNITY Day” in Fond du Lac, and commend this observance to our citizenry by acknowledging with appreciation, the successful contributions that United for Diversity and this event have made to our community.
